In today’s age of k-cups, coffee pods and individual serving machines, Zoé and I are always looking for ways to take coffee back to the basics. What Does Coffee Mean to You? 

My mom inspired my love of coffee. I always remember her having a cup of coffee (she needed it to keep up with my three sisters and me) and I loved the smell. I’m not even sure when I had my first cup. If I remember right, it was back in middle school. I do remember getting ready for school, sitting down at the breakfast table and having coffee with my dad. It was always a special time and it connected us.

Then, when I was in college I shared an apartment with seven guys (yes I said seven!) and 5 of the 7 had the same love of coffee I did. That meant we always had a pot of coffee on all day and all night. It was just like 7-11 but there was just something about brewing our own cup of coffee with friends. It seemed like that pot of coffee was always a way to bring us together and of course, keep us awake enough to work, study, party...repeat.
